Post by: michelleR on Monday 01 August 05 10:27 BST (UK)
Could I request a lookup of the 1871 census for Adam Platt he died at Chorley aged 65 in the DEC quarter 1871 so he should be on the census.  His wife was Elizabeth Grimshaw and they married in Chorley in 1826.
Thanks
Michelle

There was another Adam Platt around in 1861,
b same place, same time father Samuel, only was a weaver. Don't get muddled.

The place in Leyland should be Old Worden Hall. It still exists - but only just, having been allowed to deteriorate behind the walls of the Royal Ordnance factory. It's now visible to the public again. It's not in as bad a state as Buckshaw Hall though.

Thank you all for repling. I am not sure that this is my family could Ellen be Elizabeth.  My Adam was bapt in Chorley in 1805 son of James and Jane.  Although most of these children's names are the same as my Adams siblings names.
I know that my Adam had a James (who was in AUST by 1861) and a William b c 1842.  So I guess that I need and earlier census record for Adam.  I think my family could have moved to Manchester or Liverpool after 1829, as I found a James b 1835 Manchester on the IGI.   I don't know how to find this family on the 1841 and 1851 census any help would be appreciated.
Kind Regards
Michelle
