Recently while helping a friend do his family tree i came across the marriage of his great grandfather in Dublin.
Denis McGrath son of Edward both Bakers 30 Little Denmark St To Julia Condron dtr of Thomas ,1st Dec 1899 St Audeon,s.

1901 census shows him age 23
http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1901/Dublin/Merchants_Quay/Poole_Street/1299814/
unfortunately Denis died 1910 age 32 knocked down by car at Merchant's Quay.
His wifes family were living next door who i have traced back to Wexford 1873
http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1901/Dublin/Merchants_Quay/Poole_Street/1299815/
I found a suspicious birth for a Denis McGrath 1876 to Denis McGrath a Baker and Sarah Hayden of Nicholas Street.
https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/birth_returns/births_1876/03046/2116642.pdf
I have not found a marriage for this couple or further children.
A Denis McGrath died 1901 just before census date in the Workhouse with a home address of Bridge St,he was a bachelor age 58 and a Baker
https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/deaths_returns/deaths_1901/05738/4619843.pdf
so i am wondering if he was illegitimate and was not sure of his fathers name as i can find no records of an Edward McGrath a Baker or the above couple.
opinions welcomed

Dathai I have found them in Workhouse records for 1888.
Denis McGrath aged 11, child of a Baker who is also in the workhouse. He is discharged October 1888 " to Uncle"
Father is Edward McGrath aged 40, a widower, Baker of 46 Nicholas street. He died there 21 Sept 1888.
There is a note to say he has three children in the workhouse - I'll look back see if I can find them later. (at work at the mo)
-
Catherine McGrath aged 9. 35 Nicholas St. " father a baker is in the workhouse" Sent to nurse in Nov 1890.
James McGrath aged 7. 35 Nicholas St. a note that he is "dumb'. Sent to Cork St Hospital, April 1892.

This might be Catherine in SDU Workhouse records 6th August 1891
"On the report of the master, the committee recommended that Catherine McGrath be given to her Uncle James MURRAY" and a pencil note saying 'Adopted'
