Does anyone have any information about people connected with the Birmingham branch of the I.L.P. in the 1890's? My Grandfather Nicholas Donovan was their candidate for the local council elections in 1894, St. Mary's ward and 1895, Rotton Park ward. Both unsuccessful.
I would love to find out about other supporters of the party there, how they tried to get votes and the attitudes of local people to them. I am writing his story so the vaguest hints would be helpful.
Thanks for any help.

I suspect that the Library of Birmingham would offer the best source of information?

Thanks for your help on how to get facts.
I was also hoping to possibly find someone who had memories of past relations who had mentioned or had connections with the group and maybe passed on stories. A long shot I know but worth trying!
