Which parish? It may be place of abode within that parish.

Looks like Water something to me - Waterye*
although the t doesn't seem to be crossed :-\

That's what I thought Milliepede.
Can we see the section with that word in please?
-
Could be a misspelling and shortening of Whaler yeoman ?
Other letters T in the text are crossed which makes me think this may be an L
M

I think we definitely need to see this word in context. :-\

It may be a help to add Town/County/Country?
The 'some more' doesn't include the original word i.e can't compare the 'wording' to the sentence as Ruskie has pointed out ??? ::)
All info. is helpful as researchers need to know certain things for clues :D

Hello everyone,
And thank you for your help and interest. I can't add any more, keep getting error message, to large.
The parish was Canongate and on looking just now online there was once apon a time a place
there called the water gate or water yet, I think it was the beginning of the Canongate. I haven't
finished reading all about this but it is looking like that's what it says, do any of you agree?

(other ds in the portion were formed like the last letter)

Hi Gadget,
I did at first as well, some of the writing is really difficult on these certificates as if the
search isn't hard enough at times.
Thanks so much for your in put, much appreciated.
