Hi,
I am looking for any information regarding George Oliver & Olive Harriet Oliver nee Freece (birth and death dates unknown). The names of their parents would also be valuable.
George and Olive were married (unknown date). I believe they lived at 2 Sunny Bank, Tredegar. George's occupation was a Colliery Labourer (below ground).
Their son, Albert James Oliver, was born on the 6th September, 1920 in Cobhall Common, Allensmore R.D. (Sub-District of Dawchurch in the County of Hereford).
Warm regards,
Kris

Olive's birth:
March qtr 1898
Hereford Registration District vol 6a, page 473
Preece, Olive Harriet
The new GRO Index Search gives Mother's Maiden Names for nearly all births from 1837 to 1915. So:
PREECE, OLIVE HARRIET (Mother's Maiden Name:) COTTERELL
GRO Reference: 1898 M Quarter in HEREFORD Volume 06A Page 473
Also:
PREECE, ALBERT HENRY COTTERELL
GRO Reference: 1893 D Quarter in HEREFORD Volume 06A Page 458
PREECE, GERTRUDE ALICE COTTRILL
GRO Reference: 1891 S Quarter in HEREFORD Volume 06A Page 457
PREECE, ARTHUR ROSSOR COTTRELE
GRO Reference: 1887 J Quarter in HEREFORD Volume 06A Page 469
PREECE, EDWARD JAMES COTTERELL
GRO Reference: 1889 D Quarter in HEREFORD Volume 06A Page 465
All that points to this marriage:
September qtr 1886
Hereford Registration District vol 6a, page 813
Preece, James
Cotterell, Priscilla
(but you need to evidence to back this up. Censuses?)

Did Olive remarry?
Marriage June quarter 1936 at Weobley Herefordshire
Olive H Oliver
James E Phillips
Looks to be living in Taunton Somerset in 1939
so might be this death:
Olive H Phillips died September quarter 1957 age 59 in Taunton, Somerset

This looks like Olive and family on the 1901 census: https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:X9BT-K1N

May be a coincidence, but a death: March 1951 PREECE Priscilla 84 Taunton 7c 304. Fits with the birth year on the 1901 census.

Thank-you all for your wonderful information. It really helps.
How would I go about finding more information about George Oliver, Olive's first husband? There seems to be little information regarding him.
Cheers,
Kris

There are too many George Olivers out there to be certain which one is yours :-\
I think you need the Marriage Certificate, to get some clues?
That will show Father's name & Occupation, George's address, age (maybe!), and occupation.

There's a death for a George Oliver 1928 Bedwelty Reg. Dist. which covered Tredegar aged 31.
Assuming he was born Herefordshire I can find only one:
James Oliver 55
Mary A Oliver 45
Annie Oliver 13
Henry Oliver 10
Samuel Oliver 9
George Oliver 3
Mary Oliver 1
1901 Cradley: RG13; Piece: 2490; Folio: 63; Page: 9
Same place in 1911.
Having said that I agree with KGerrard, you need the marriage cert.

Thank-you all for your help. I sincerely appreciate it.
jim1, the census information you posted seems the most likely link to George considering age and location. Yes, the marriage certificate is the missing link.
Cheers,
Kris
