Title: FG LOWDER - please help dating photo
Post by: buntin2004 on Monday 24 July 17 09:58 BST (UK)
Dear fabulous people of Rootschat.
I made an assumption that this is a photo of my grandfather but some relatives believe it to be his father.  Is there anyone out there who could date the photo, and/or provide any info re the uniform...if at all possible

Thank you so much for your time ;D
Kate

Post WW1 RAF. Probably 1920's as this is a cabinet card which had just about had their day by the early 20's.
I think the crown is that of George V not that it helps much.

Just to confirm dates in a general way. The RAF was only established in April 1918 and this is an RAF uniform, note the eagle on the top of the sleeve and the cap badge.

The photo is then after April 1918 put that with the great find of electoral roll of 1925 gives the definite answer.
