I am trying to find the parents of my Mary Standen. She married in High Halden in 1822 to Thomas Boots. They immigrated to South Australia in 1839. She died in 1866 in South Australia at the age of 66. By that it works out that she was born c. 1800. How can I find out when and where she was born and the names of her parents.

Welcome to Rootschat Marghohn.
FreeREG has the 1822 Marriage, unfortunately no witnesses named.
There appears to be no other Standen records in High Halden on there.
There is this Marriage St Mary the Virgin, High Halden
10 July 1794, William BOOTS to Margaret BOURNE
Parents for Thomas?
Did Thomas/Mary Baptise children, St Margaret Bethersden?
Mass Baptism 21 Nov 1830***;
CHARLOTTE, birth 23 Feb 1824
THOMAS, birth 26 Dec 1827
CHARLES, birth 6 Sept 1828
WILLIAM, no birth date shown
( On FreeREG, Parents THOMAS/MARY, Occp Labourer)
Familysearch has these other Children Baptised to Thomas/Mary in Bethersden;
JOHN and FREDERICK, 9 Oct 1833
MARY, 6 January 1836
It helps to have all Childrens names as Families often have a naming pattern.
There is a THOMAS Boots christened 7 February 1799, High Halden, Kent to WILLIAM/MARGARET
(F/S.Org)
Now to Mary, there are at least 15 possible Baptisms in Kent 1707-1803 for her on F/S..
Bit of a nightmare.
There are possibles in Goudhurst 1796/1797/1803
There reason I singled these out is there is this christening there;
Thomas BOOTS, 22 November 1825, Goudhurst, Kent to Thomas/Mary.
Often Woman went Home to have their 1st child.
If correct this Thomas must have died as the have another 1827.
Just my thoughts, others may come up with other ideas for you :)

Thankyou for that information. I should have said my Thomas was baptized at High Halden to William Boots and Margaret Bourne and Thomas and Mary Boots children apart from Charles who was baptized at High Halden were baptized at Bethesden. Their childrens names were Charles, Charlotte, Thomas, William, Frederick, John, Mary and James.
There is a Mary Standen parents Thomas Standen and Elizabeth Ilden I thought were a possibility. But how do I find out for sure.

It i a very difficult one sorry I cant be more help.

My gut instinct is that her parents are the couple you mention i.e. Thomas Standen married to Elizabeth Alden 17/3/1799 Biddenden (only 4 miles from High Halden).
Mary Standen being bp.10/8/1799 Biddenden.
There is no trace of this Mary Standen marrying in Biddenden, or being buried in Biddenden and her parents remained and died in Biddenden.

That has been my feeling Annette. Could you please tell me when that Thomas Standen and Elizabeth Ilden died.

From National Burial Index on FindMyPast:
Thomas 72 (bc.1763) buried 20/1/1835 Biddenden
Elizabeth bur.5/12/1809 Biddenden (no ages given before 1813).
Familysearch shows they had 3 children, Mary 1799, John 1801 and Thomas 1805.
