Title: Warren family Scaldwell early 1700s. Sarah and father George a baker
Post by: Ron Lankshear on Thursday 13 July 17 03:43 BST (UK)
I am searching my matrilineal line I am looking for Warren in Northamptonshire Scaldwell.
Sarah WARREN Spinster Scaldwell 2nd Daughter of George WARREN Baker
Marriage to John WADSWORTH Bachelor Groom abode B. Finedon Scaldwell Fellmonger
at St Peter and St Paul on 17 Nov 1765
Winesses William GILBERT Martha LANGLEY - 3rd witness John Webb is a church person signing all certs on that page

Looks like the father George dies in 1808 at 84 so born c1724.
I presume his son George is a marriage in 1755 and I assume this George is the fellmonger also found
But I cannot find any Warren's before 1755
or a marriage for the father
with at least son George, a daughter and then Sarah.
I have looked around Northants and beyond
There is also a Wm Warren master of local school

But c1755 they seem to be a firm Scaldwell family. So why cannot I find earlier

Hello Roy,

Looking at the Northamptonshire Burial Index, I found an entry for a George WARING, baker, on 8 Jul 1769 in Scaldwell. I suspected this could be Sarah's father, and had a look at the Baptism Index

I found a whole family of Warings: Elizabeth 1739, Sarah 1740, John 1742, Anne 1744, Mary 1748 and George 1749, all in Scaldwell, children of George and Elizabeth.

George and Elizabeth (Fox) were married in 1737 in Lamport

FreeREG has a lot of the records you need including what Praawncocktail gave you, under Warren/Waring.
EG ELIZTH Warren buried 8 March 1773, Widow.
George/Elizabeths Daug Mary buried 1749

There is another George/Elizabeth bapting there also after 1755 (Elizabethh MACKLESS married George WARREN 1755, From what I can see he was a Fellmonger.

JOHN Warren, Baker, and Wife Elizabeth have children there also from 1768 (likely George/Elizabeths Son born 1742) Some Waring/some Wareing

Trish :)

Thank you ... I saw the WARING records with Sarah but the baptism did not say George WARING was a baker. And yesterday I thought  WARING and WARREN were utterly different surnames. Did not seem to sound at all alike ....
But now I've looked at the burial of George WARING, baker, on 8 Jul 1769 and I've looked around the web and seen all the sites saying Warren Wareing Waring etc etc...

It seems to come from a forename Warin rather than some which will come from Varenne ... ah surnames great fun...

So many thanks Prawncocktail I am now looking at ffox in Brixworth looks like baptised 1709 and mother also Elizabeth.... I will be back to Civil War maybe today...

Good work folk ...
