Title: Old French Documents 1794-1797
Post by: Craig tilton7 on Sunday 02 July 17 17:06 BST (UK)
Dear all

You were very helpful in helping me research a document book from Pradelles in April.

I have acquired another book of notary documents (620 bound pages )

Can anyone provide any information? Such as the notary, the place or region etc

Best wishes

The second extract (line 2) describes the writer as Notaire Royal De Lafrancaize Soussigne (Royal Notary of Lafrançaise, undersigned). I think he has signed his name Moncuquet.

If so, the location may be Lafrançaise in Tarn-et-Garonne, in south-west France, where a Guillaume Moncuquet was mayor in 1798-1799

The name Moncuquet also comes up in the entries that follow. More research would be needed to find some of the other names mentioned, but perhaps it's a starting-point?

Looking at Geneanet, if my reading of the name Moncuquet is correct, it might be worth trying to contact one researcher who has a substantial online tree for this surname, in Lafrançaise and other towns in Tarn-et-Garonne.

I think you will have to register with the site (free) to get her email address.
