Mine went through okay.

Dont worry, its more than likely a case of this old biddy pressing the wrong buttons --- as per x
So thanks anyway

Thanks, mine went through using FindmyPast au site for Au$1, oddly enough their confirmation reply email states £1, checked my bank which confirms Au$1

I put in the discount code and it has taken me through to a £1 World sub, I thought it was just a Britain sub or is it 1 months World access?
-
Very many thanks Bugbear - it worked like magic.

Sorry, but this is really getting beyond a joke now. I don't blame people for taking advantage of the offers but I am annoyed with FindMyPast for constantly offering them. I think once my subscription comes to an end I won't be renewing, what's the point if I can get the same for £1 every few months?

Hi Groom, just about to post similar, just renewed my World Sub, seeing the amount of times I see on this forum "Get in quick etc" I seriously question why I bother.
Then again they enhanced my membership by 3 days when this sort of offer was last offered, time to rethink perhaps?

I've posted on their FB page - let's see if I get a response.

I've just emailed them and said I'll be reviewing my membership when it falls due. What's the point?
The only extra we have over this offer is the 1939 register, which isn't included.
I hope to see the folks taking advantage of this offer doing lots of look ups on RC :-X

Just wondering, is this offer for a month starting now? I wonder if I applied for it if they would add it on to my subscription so that rather than ending December it ended January?
-
Not sure
As I went from UK to World, the UK expired and the World started immediately but as you're already on World, might not work the same way
Or it might even treat you as a downgrade as the offer doesn't include the 1939
Possibly not worth the potential hassle finding out
-
Recently renewed as like FindMyPast, prefer it to Ancestry but only have a UK sub. Wish I had waited to have a free mth then renew if wanted.
Also the free wkend just gone, emailed and was told I benefit as had free Irish records, no additional days added.
I do not begrudge any newby having a free mth, not in the least, but paying a £100 + myself for the year, I can understand why those who have world sub are really irate!

I thought my attempt went through as 300 credits [but was for an earlier offer], I'll try later.
Yes £1.00 for world subs, many thanks for the code

I agree. Pay back..pay forward
-
I hope that anyone who does lookups does it because they want to, rather than because they feel pressurised or emotionally blackmailed

EDIT Just how many of those who thanked bugbear for the post, will assist others?

Thanks for posting the offer, bugbear. I had been planning to get a month's sub (primarily for the Newspaper Archive) at some point in the future, and had been making a list of events to look for. This offer means I haven't had to wait ... and almost the first thing I found was something I never knew existed ... a photo of my grandfather! I had never seen a picture of him ... and he has my father's smile (or I suppose the other way round) ... many thanks :)

I've emailed to complain as well. FindMyPast are obviously daft enough to think that these offers will entice people to take out a subscription (most won't) instead of just jumping in to take advantage of the free offers, but I don't see why we subscribers should fund it. Its getting ridiculous.
No, I don't blame people for taking advantage of the offers, I blame FindMyPast.
Its the same old story with most companies these days - once they have your custom they're not interested in you anymore and all the offers go to entice non-customers.
If they reply to me telling me I benefitted by having access to Irish records, I shall tell them exactly where to insert their shillelagh!!! >:( >:(

Yes, they will tell you that ::) They informed me of that very fact yesterday evening :-X
-
I've just had a reply. No mention of Irish records (which is a shame because I was really looking forward to my shillelagh instructions!). At least they answer promptly.
It was the usual polite reply basically saying 'tough' when you pare away the flannel. They point out subscriber benefits which don't amount to much really - a few discounts if you just happen to be interested in the item on offer. One of our benefits is
first to have a say in what record sets you would like to see next
Has anyone ever emailed them with 'your say'? I have - many moons ago - suggesting Westmoreland and Cumberland parish records. never even got a reply!
Another one is
Priority customer support
to which my answer is: I should bl---y well think so!!
I have also suggested that subscribers' subscriptions be extended by the number of free days offered to non subscribers the previous year.
No point getting too riled - nothing will change.
