I cannot find her death at all.
M.J born 1832, married George Perfit, January 1852 • St George Hanover Square, London.
George was a gunner in the R.F.A and served in the Crimea & Gibraltar at the time there last child was born(1864), however on the next english census in 1871, George had re-married and there was no sign of M.J apart from there children. So, I can only assume that she had died abroad...
Can anyone help?
He also served along side his half brother Jeremiah Perfit who married Mary Jane's cousin Eliza ann Perryman.
I would be very greatfull for any information.

Do you know what year he remarried? ** That might help narrow down a death year for Mary Jane.
She was clearly alive in 1864 if a child was born.
** this could be it to Hannah Dovey 2 Jan 1868.
-
Which child was born in 1864 only in 1871 (if I am looking at the correct family) there is a son Fred age 5 born Woolwich.
Presume the little girl age 2 is the daughter of Hannah.
Then there is a 4 year old daughter Harriet as well so who was her mother.
-
Yes He married Hannah Dovey 1868 and Fred was Hannah's son, it has him down as Fred.D Perfit(1871 census) but in later life he uses the name Dovey and lists his father on marriage Banns as Thomas Dovey. So Mary Jane died between 1864 and 1868. Gibraltar most possibly..?

Harriet is the Daughter born in Gibraltar of Mary Jane. Maud is also born in Gibraltar of Hannah, both are daughters of George.. confusing stuff..

Looks like Mary Jane and Hannah may have been acquainted
Hannah Winsor of 20 Ogilby St woolwich (father William, carpenter) marries Arthur Creagen, gunner, RA, in 1855. witnesses inc Mary Jane Perfit
Hannah Dovey marries George from the same address
-
Hannah's maiden name was Winsor, she marred Arthur Crigen in 1855 they had one son in 1861, then she next married Thomas Dovey in 1863 they had one son Fred Dovey(1865). Then she married Geogre Perfit..
All Husbands where on campain in the crimea..
-
Yes Mary Jane appears on several other Banns sometimes using her maiden name..
Soldiers and wife's at close quarters I suppose,.
-
It is confusing isn't it but Gibraltar certainly seems to be the key if the 2 children you mention were born there but with different mothers. Maybe Mary Jane died just after the birth of that child.
Yet he remarried in England and the children were baptised in England so must have been a quick bit of to'ing and fro'ing.
-
Yes just abit, Looks like a trip to Gibraltar is i order.
As the Gibraltar National Archives, start at 1869.
Thankyou all for your input.
