Hello,I was wondering if anyone maybe going to library in Manchester please?
I have found a relative,ANNIE BARLOW,who was buried in Gorton cemetery on 17th June 1946,with her child.I have been told that she may have been involved in a cycling accident, whilst pregnant or she may have died in child birth?.Her home address was 358 Moston Lane,Moston.
It would be interesting to see if anything was reported in the newspaper?
Many Thanks
Kate

Thank you Mary for getting back to me.I don`t have a Doris Barlow, that I know of ?
I`ve sent for Annie`s death cert as that should tell me if she was involved in an RTA?,or maybe she died in childbirth ?,I knew her child was buried with her,but don`t know if it was a boy or girl ? :'(

Gorton Cemetery is a long way from Moston Lane.
There is a cemetery in Moston, one at Queen`s Road Harpurhey and another Philip`s Park in Miles Platting /Newton heath area. All much nearer than Gorton so perhaps other family members were buried there, so some connection.
Perhaps its worth trying that line of enquiry.Viktoria.

Hi Barby7, i'm not sure if you will find out the sex of the still born child? You could try find the undertaker who carried out the funeral service? A few are still around in the Gorton area. I see that Anne & the child were buried in the same coffin. What details do you have on Annie (BMD)? Another newspaper you should check in case Annie did die in a motor accident, would be the Gorton reporter (Some times called the Gorton & Openshaw reporter). As for the Doris i posted, that was the only lady i could find involved in a motor cycle accident.

I will try to look in the Gorton Reporter for you.

I have checked the Gorton Reporter and there is a report of the death of Doris Barlow in the motorcycle accident but nothing about Annie Barlow.

I have just received the death cert for Annie Barlow. She died in childbirth in a nursing home in Oldham.I have entered her child`s details as sex unknown on the family tree.

From a past enquiry within my family I quote below the initial GRO response, which I feel will be of help to yourself and others.
Quote; Due to the sensitive nature of stillbirth registrations, only the mother or father of the child is able to apply for a certificate. The parent must be named on the birth certificate to do this.
Should the parents be deceased, a brother or sister can apply if they can provide their parents' dates of death. Unquote.
I would add that a special 'Application for a Still Birth Certificate' is required.

Good luck,
Mary :)
