Welcome to rootschat Didier :)

From freebmd:
Marriages Dec 1873
Belfield    Margaret        W.Bromwich    6b   1305
PALMER    Josephine Anne        W. Bromwich    6b   1305
Priestland    William Margaret        W Bromwich    6b   1305
Squires    Frederick        W.Bromwich    6b   1305

You can get the certificate from GRO online for £9.25, this will give you his father's name and occupation. Just wondering how you have the exact date if you can't find the marriage record? Perhaps you have a photo or another record?

It's looking like Josephine Anne Palmer was b.3/7/1856 (twin of Joseph Albert Palmer) in Chelsea, parents Joseph Palmer, butler and Anne (GRO index shows mmn Catt).

Joseph Palmer and Anne Catt married Mar.qtr.1856 St. George Hanover Square, London (cannot find details online).

However, in 1861 in Chelsea Anne Palmer bc.1822 Hackney - Married - is with the twins plus 2 older children:

Elizabeth Ann Woodin bc.1845 Kennington, Surrey (reg'd Dec.1844 Lambeth)
John Henry Woodin bc.1850 Old St. St. Lukes (reg'd Jun.1850 St. Luke) - GRO index confirms mmn as Catt and in 1851 these 2 children are with their maternal grandmother Ann Catt.

William Woodin married Ann Catt Mar.qtr.1844 Shoreditch - so, if married to a Woodin in 1844 how did she marry in her maiden name of Catt when she married Joseph Palmer in 1856??

In 1871 I haven't found Josephine but her brother Joseph is a servant in Birmingham which would tie in with what is known.

Francis Robert Palmer 25th November 1866 Great Barr St Margaret Father Joseph occ Butler Mother Annie address Great Barr Hall

EDIT William Woodin was a widower occ Cheese Monger when he married Ann Catt Spinster 29th January 1844 St Mary, Haggerston, his Father Robert occ Baker
Father of Ann, John Catt occ Butcher

He looks to have been previously married to a Sophia Nightingale 7th December 1842  St Luke, Finsbury,  her death could be that of the Sophia Woodin December qtr 1843 Croydon aged 20?

Think the Probate record for Frederick Squires 1900 died Brest, France is almost certainly correct.

Looks like the couple departed England immediately after their marriage - they appear to have had 2 sons born in Brest:

Frederick Squires b.1871-1875 Brest
James Palmer Squires b.1881-1885 (or 1886-1890)

This is from the Consular Birth Indices for British National Born Overseas - unfortunately, these indexes don't state the specific year but believe that the one for Frederick is 1873.   At first I thought there had been 2 sons named James Palmer (first one having died) as there are 2 entries as shown above.   However, looking at original index pages the earlier one has his name obviously added later as has been squeezed in and has the same page number as the later entry.

I think that the son Frederick married in Brest in 1901-1905 possibly to a Jeanne Marie Barrois (who shares the same page number) and that he died there 1936-1940.

Can see nothing further for the other son James Palmer Squires or what happened to Josephine Ann after her husbands death in 1900 either in France or England.

Hi again all, would really like to see how Ann Catt who married William Woodin 1844 legally married Joseph Palmer, the children of William & Ann as already located were with their Catt Grandparents in 1851 HO107/1506/179/17
Is Ann therefore the married Ann WOODING 29 occ Nurse b Hackney in Hanover Square in 1851 census HO107/1477/127/20?

PS the Jessie Sarah Ann Palmer was born March qtr 1864 Saffron Walden, mmn Catt, she married William Stephen Gray and gives Debden as her pob throughout.
