My Dad, Pat 1927-1996, loved this photo. Unfortunately he carried it in his wallet so its very battered. I would love to see it restored. If anyone fancies a go at colour he had blue eyes and when he was a child blonde hair. He always said it was a blue dress as he remembers seeing it on his younger siblings. They didn't have a lot of clothes back then so its probable the same dress was worn by many if not worn out.
I always thought it was odd that he was wearing a dress but someone told me once it was common until toilet trained for all sexes to wear dresses.
Anyway all impressions greatly received.
Thanks in advance,
M

The original is only about 59KB - if you rescan it to an image close to the 500KB limit you will be able to have a much better result.
Here is a quick clean-up of the small photograph.

Wow, lovely work Handypandy and dafydd46. I am really sorry you had to work with a small photo, I scanned that a few years ago when I didn't know you could change settings- actually I still am not very knowledgeable. I have read what appear to be very informative posts about how to scan and achieve the best pic for restorers to work on but its all too much for me. I will try reading again and then rescan, it will take me a while!
I am very happy with what you have done- I can't imagine how you could do better, sorry if its not easy/fun to work with.

@atmartinas,
Don't apologize! I'm sure I speak for everyone when I say that we just wish to give you the best possible restoration of your pictures.
Your other photograph, Aunt Betty Leacy, would also benefit from a higher resolution scan.
