Title: Denis Curran Carlow
Post by: Anseo on Saturday 03 June 17 22:22 BST (UK)
Am I correct in my dating of this photo c.1880s? I'd appreciate if Dennis be 'scrubbed up' a bit! Thank you, Ita

This is the original in its frame. Perhaps the frame is a hint.

As I thought it's an ambrotype. These were the norm throughout the 1850's but were still in use into the early 60's. I think this is 1850's so you need to go back a generation.

I am always amazed at the detail that you wonderful group of restorers can extract from an old photograph. Thank you so much for scrubbing up Dennis (although I now think that it might have been his father, William!)

My apologies - Denis was born c.1830s - so you are spot on. Thank you. Ita
