Title: WW1 record prisoner of war?
Post by: Joanne on Friday 19 May 17 16:03 BST (UK)
I've attached my great grandfathers WW1 record.  Could anybody tell me in the 'Special Instances' section if it faintly says he was a prisoner from 10/10/19 - 15/4/19 please?  Even though at the top it says he was home by 1918

Many thanks in advance

The word looks more like 'pension'

Thanks that would make more sense date wise.  Didn't realise a pension was classed as a special instance

Pension 19/3 (19 shillings and three pence) from 10 Oct 18 (day after release) to 15 Apr 1919 then next line another sum 12/9 (??) from xxxx to xxxx.  13/9 from 16 Apr 19 to be reviewed in 36 weeks ()on another part of his record - more legible).

Clerks didn't always put things in the right place!

Thanks Max wondered what the 19/3 was.  Well done for reading the next line too, I struggled
