Title: Reeds of Whitehaven, Cumberland
Post by: Tosh Reed on Wednesday 17 May 17 09:01 BST (UK)
Hello all,

I have almost exhausted my research but am wondering if anyone else's research would connect with mine.

The Reed family was one of the older Whitehaven Families. There appear to be 2 or possibly 3 families that are Reeds in Whitehaven, but I am wondering even if they have a common root ancestor.

The earliest I can trace my own Reed branch back is Thompson Reed, a sailor (b1801-d1856) who lived in Whitehaven and married B. Bell until her death and his second wife E. Renwick. I don't know how many siblings Thompson had, nor do I know his mother. I know his father was a John Reed (his occupation on Thompsons marriage cert, lists Shoemaker).

Anyone else searching Reeds of Whitehaven?

Talk soon,
John (Tosh) Reed

Quite by chance, this morning I came across this reference which mentions later generations of Thompson REEDs. :)
