I was wondering if anyone could help date this photo of a lady taken at the Relma Studios at 216 King Street, Newtown, presumably Sydney (as my family are from NSW).
The photo comes via my late grandmother and I suspect it might be of either:
1. her grandmother Alice Evans, born in 1874 in Glebe, died 1961 Kingsford. She lived in Sydney her whole life but not, so far as I'm aware, in Newtown.
2. her other grandmother, Sarah Ann Vigers nee Budden, born 1865 in Denman, died in 1953 in Mosman. She grew up in the Hunter Valley then lived in Dubbo in the 1890s before moving to Burwood in Sydney sometime probably not too long before 1917.
Many thanks if anyone can help.

Bit of a clean to bring her back up the board.

Thanks HP, very nice of you :)

Looks Edwardian, and the earliest mention of Relma Studios that I can find in the newspapers on Trove is 1910

Beautiful photo...I agree with Matthew so most likely to be Alice.

Thank you all for your help, much appreciated. Does anyone see any resemblance between the photo and the attached photo of Alice's daughter Frances at age 17 in 1916?
-
Yes, nose shape, eyes and hair colour
-
A clean up for Frances too .....

Thanks Matthew, I'm hopeless at detecting resemblances but I think you're right.
Thanks HP, it comes up really nicely!

Thanks Carolyn, that's really nice :) Now that I've got a better idea of who this is I might put the photo on my Ancestry tree. Do you mind if I use your restoration? Would you like a credit?

You are most welcome and I'm so pleased to think you want to use my restore, yes
I would like a credit.
Thank you for your kind words !
regards Carolyn :)
