My great aunt Ellen Julia Eve aged 23 died April 1903 at 40 Cambridge Avenue, Whitley Bay, Northumberland. So far have been unable to find her grave. Anybody able to do look-up please
-
Hi, she is not listed in
https://www.deceasedonline.com
So, if she was buried in a Churchyard you would have to search the Churches, but it's knowing which one. If she was Cremated then ashes scattered or buried in the Churchyard then a record would be at the Town Crematorium.
She only shows up in the death record.

Did they have crematoriums as far back as 1903?
-
They have to keep all records from when they were built.
Grave plots in Council graveyards are all accounted for.
Mine is WW 174, I bought it a few years ago. South facing so I will be in the sun.

Yes
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cremation_Society_of_Great_Britain
There were supposedly only 13 before WW1
Northumberland council only has 1 crematorium at Cowpen, Blyth, I don't know when it opened though

Have you any idea where her closest relatives are buried
were they from Whitley or further down say North Shields,or even Earsdon, have you enquired there
would her husband have had her burial back in London, who took care of her son after her death
-
It is quite possible she would have got a mention in the local newspapers
Discover North Tyneside Local studies,North Shields
Telephone 0191 6435270
email discovery@northtyneside.gov.uk
they may be able to do a quick look up for you in their Newspaper index
very helpful staff
if not I will pop in a week on Monday if you have not been able to get an answer to your enquiry

Hi, thanks for suggestion re old newspapers. I am currently not at home just now, so can't get at my files. Any help you can give regarding my great aunt Ellen Julia Eva's death in April 1903 in Whitley Bay would be very much appreciated particularly as I am also looking for Ellen granddaughter who lives in America.

As far as I am aware Ellen had no relatives up in the northeast of England. Her family were all in East London. I have a photo taken in Blyth of Cyril in 1905 or 1906, so that suggests William and Cyril stayed up in that area. Maybe a sister of William moved up to look after them. William went to America in 1906 and married again before coming back to collect Cyril in 1910 and take him to America. It's a bit of a mystery really, and because I live in Suffolk, I can't get up to the area to find out.

Hi I have finally been able to find the burial place for my great aunt Ellen Julia Eve. A kind soul from NDFHS was able to look in the St. Paul's records and have given me the location of the grave.
Thanks everybody for all your suggestions and time.
