does any one know how to find out which regiment
a particular person was in my ggrandfather was in
armed forces for 45 years and i cant find any
trace of him any where

Hi Bear, if your GGrandfather fought in the first world war, you could try this link

You are able to look up Medal Index Cards for soldiers who fought in the 1st world war. Of course it helps if your soldier has an unusual name, and only surnames A to N are available at the moment.
Another website I have found invaluable is

The guys here are really knowledable, and were able to tell me my great grandfathers regiment from a photograph of him in uniform.

my ggrandfather started his service 1n about 1875-78
i have been told he was in the
queens royal expaditionary mounted blacks and served in india but i can find no refrances and am not sure

great site for general info but couldnt get any
on inderviduels also my gg was not irish dont no if that makes a difference when he was home he
