Title: German text on back of a photograph
Post by: alistquin on Friday 28 April 17 11:32 BST (UK)
Can any one decipher this German text on the back of a family photo please. If I crop it the text becomes very fuzzy.

Alastair, how sure are you that this is German?

I would advise adding "german" to your subject heading. There are several German speakers who may be able to help you (though it is a bit of a scrawl)  :)

I'm not an expert on this German script, but I can make out enough to be sure that that's what it is. What I think I can see is:

Brief folgt ihm(?) nächsten
lebe wohl auf
wiedersehen

which translated is (more or less):
Letter follows shortly
farewell, goodbye

Others may be able to refine that, but I don't think they'll see any names.

Thank you Arthurk. Not at all what I hoped it might be!   :(

The script from arthurk is perfekt.
But I don't understand the sence, because I miss a word after "nächsten".

Letter will follow him next (day, week ? ? ? ???)
farewell good-
bye

Regards Betty
