Hi,
I am trying to identify the location of my gg grandfathers birth. He is the 2nd one down in the image - John Carmody (Son of Michael Carmody & Sarah Lynch)
It looks like the townland of Kilokennedy but not sure what it says above that - anyone with local knowledge have any ideas - couldnt see any similarities in townland names.
Thanks,
Mike.

Hi Mike. Kilbane and Kyleglass are townlands in Kilokennedy which is near Bridgetown, Co. Clare. Most place names were anglicised in late 1800s. My guess is that Kilbaun is the original Irish name (Cill Ban means white church). There's information about Carmodys in Kilbane in askaboutireland.ie. Miriam
