Title: ST MARY'S CHURCHYARD, GREAT BUDWORTH, CHESHIRE - ELLIS GLEAVE
Post by: daisynook on Friday 21 April 17 09:39 BST (UK)
I have tried searching for this family for a long time.  The last time some kind person told me a list had been published of names on the gravestones but the link didn't work and I've not been able to find anything as yet.
I believe that the gravestone for William Gleave and wife Sarah Ryder or possibly Ann Rogers shows a list of his children. As there was more than one William Gleave in the area I'm trying to pin down which one had a son named Ellis b.1768 and christened on March 5 1768 in the church.  If it is found I would appreciate a photo!
If any kind person could have a look for me I'd be very grateful. :)

If it helps the place name 'Frandley' is on the BT.

Edit 17:48  BT for the baptism of Ellis.

There is a burial for Sarah Gleave 30th January 1897 at Great Budworth age 80 years on Dusty Docs English Parish Registers. Also on the Chester Bishop's Transcripts a burial for William Gleave of Frandley 6th March 1769, as Ellis Gleave's Christening was Frandley on 6th March 1768 this is a possible.

Thank you for that information Ellenmai, the dates fit.  I'd still like to see the gravestone, that would be undeniable proof of who the children were!  Someone told be there were 3 or 4 William Gleave's in the area at that time and the William & Sarah that I had as mine didn't have a son called Ellis.  This threw me into doubt!!  I've never even heard of Dusty Docs! :-[
