Title: Burials at Holy Trinity, Barrow-upon-Soar
Post by: JonJon on Wednesday 19 April 17 19:01 BST (UK)
Hello,

I am seeking help finding two Burials at Holy Trinity, Barrow.

Mary RIDER/RYDER between 1793 & 1798.
( Mary was baptized on 10 Mar 1793. )

Plus another RIDER/RYDER about 1806 possibly her father William.

I have checked the online transcriptions which only start in 1813.

If possible please include the LDS/GSU film and frame numbers.

TIA
Jonathan  in Toronto, Canada

Hello again,

I Goofed !

The 1793 baptism was for Elizabeth not Mary.. so please forget that part of my request.

I still wish to know which RIDER was buried about 1806 though.

Cheers
Jonathan

Barrow upon Soar - 26 Dec 1806, Rider: William aged 49.

Sorry, can't help with the LDS references, but the PR does not include any information other than the above.

Hi once more,

Please can somebody check for a burial of the other family member who
does not seem to have survived until 1813 this being :

Elizabeth RIDER baptized Holy Trinity, Barrow on 10 March 1793

I suspect that she died before 1806.. possibly as early as 1793..
but more likely after the birth of her sister Mary who was baptized 11 Feb 1798.

TIA

Hi Jomot,

Thank you for that "news for me ".. always nice when guesses are confirmed.

Elizabeth was the only one of 8 children to die before 1813.
Two of them fort at Waterloo and survived.

I am a descendant of the black sheep of the family who was convicted and
transported to Australia where he seems to have vanished.

Thanks again.

Jonathan

Your black sheep.

As I understand it he made his way to his cousin (the cops were after him), Mary Ryder (Mary Hill, she married Joseph Hill at Nottingham before they sailed on the Gilmore for Oz) at Balarat gold fields, from there he came back to England and went to Manchester where he became a gold dealer. He was at Marys brother John's wedding up there if I recall correctly when he married Mary Jane Newton. There were some articles in one of the northern newspapers about his gold shop being robbed. Not sure if this is of any use to you. I do believe one of Marys daughters married a fellow by the name of minifie and went over to New Zealand. I hope this is of some use.
