I think this posting was one of the "unfortunates" in the recent RootsChat server problems.
Please could those concerned please post again !

I picked this up again by accident but my response and your reply seem to have been lost due to recent technical problems in the RootsChat server. This particular event seems to be unconnected with my Holliday line at the moment but Appleton-le-Street is not that far from my "Pickering" Hollidays, etc. Can you re-post your reply if you would like to take this further?

I'm confused about what's happening here. So I will start this whole thing again.

OK - join the club! I really can't remember who contacted who now but my interest is in the name of HOLLIDAY. This name features significantly in my tree, one Sarah Jane HOLLIDAY being my wife's paternal grandmother. I have done a considerable amount of research into the name and have amassed a database of, as yet, unconnected "spares" amounting to more than 400 events but with little or no reference to Appleton-le-Street, primarily because I have not searched that area. Most of my names are in the Cropton, Pickering, Middleton area and certainly that side of Kirkbymoorside but, as I have said, Appleton is not a million miles away from all this. I don't know haw deeply you are into the HOLLIDAY name but if you are interested we can go a bit further into it all. Unfortunately I cannot yet relate to the event you specify but who knows what the future will bring!

Hi - Elizabeth is my one and only Holliday.....so far! However as she is the 3 G Grandmother of my children she is on my "hot list" to find out more. I thought I would start by finding out if any further info is recorded on the marriage record.

Sorry, but I cannot relate to any of the names you list. Once you have got a handle on the Abbey-Holliday marriage there may be something to follow up. There are quite a few baptisms recorded in IGI for Elizabeth Holliday 5 years either side of 1802 and only one seems a possible, born Sinnington in 1804. Sinnington is very close to Appleton so there may be some hope there. I wish you luck and will keep this on file in case anything emerges in the future. Bernard

Hi,hope you don't mind me adding to your thread about Holiday/Hollidays,I am researching this family name from the Malton & Kirkbymoorside areas, are you connected to anyone from these 2 areas. Joan.
-
Hi Joan,
My Holliday line is centred mainly in the Cropton/Middleton/Pickering area and whilst I would not rule out Malton & Kirbymoorside I have no names in that area that I can relate to. Based on the movements of my EDDON line, who are also closely related to the Hollidays, I would not rule out a connection. I have got back to 1778 and have not seen a connection as yet.

Hello Bernard,I have got back to my 3 xgrt grandparents John Holiday who married Elizabeth Barker 1806 Kirkdale,I have not really gone further back as yet because I am not certain about John Holidays birthplace,he dies before the 1851 census,I have not found a baptism for him in Kirkbymoorside, but have found some other Holidays that were baptised there of the right years that may or may not be siblings of John. John was a Stonemason & it does seem to have been the occupation of many of my Holiday family in the KMS area.Thankyou for replying to my message.regards Joan. This is my line of Holidays, they may be of interest.....
grandfather John Henry b 1878 New Malton
grt grandmother Maria Holiday (unmarried) b 1854 New Malton
2xgrt Barker Holiday b 1815 KMS, m 1841 Isabella Kirby New Malton
3xgrt John b,before 1790 ?? m Elizabeth Barker 1806 Kirkdale.

Dear Joan,
Thank you for coming back. I cannot tie in with the names, dates, etc that you have given me but am sure there will be a link at some point. Barker Holliday is a name that keeps coming up in the Holliday research and I guess he will be related to Elizabeth Barker. My research in the Holliday line continues and I will let you know if anything turns up. Sorry I cannot be any more positive at the present time.
Best wishes, Bernard

Yes Bernard, Barker is the son of Elizabeth Barker(& John holiday)I have researched MY Barkers who hail from Kirkdale & Helmsley, they do get rather confusing however as they marry other Barkers from the same areas,(worse than having Smiths in the family)Thanks for your interest & replies,I am hoping to do further research into the Holidays at some point as I would like to find Johns birthplace/Baptisms, will keep you in mind if anything interesting turns up. Regards Joan.

Hi Joan,
My husband is also related through Barker Holliday! Barker's daughter Sarah married Henry Tammage, who were my husbands 2x great grandparents.
I'm very new to this site (last night, actually!) so I really have no idea what I'm doing here as far as sending messages.
Take care,
Terri
