Please help. It appears as though William James Peck married Christina Appleby (b 1879) around 1918 in West Derby Lancs. At marriage she was approx 39 yo. perhaps too old to have children. How do I find out if they had any children?

If they had children in England they should appear on the GRO indexes. Was she married before :-\
Any children should be showing on freebmd using surname Peck and Christina's maiden surname

The marriage index has his names as William H Peck :-\
married Christina Appleby at Kirkdale, St. Athanasius

A search of free bmd does not reveal any children from 1918 to 1940. The 1939 Register suggests that Christina was ten years older than William. Is that correct?
There appears to be a death for Christina in June quarter 1958, birth year given as 1879.
It also looks as though William J N H remarried in 1958 to a Gertrude R Glendinning. Marriage registered in the March quarter. So before Christina's death??
I don't know what else you know about William and Christina so don't know if any of the above is correct.

The birth of a Christina Appleby was registered in Hartlepool in June quarter 1879. Could be a coincidence or may mean this was her first marriage.

There is a birth in the 1930s to Peck/Glendinning - registered under both names. I won't list the child as they are likely still living (Gertrude was b. 1914 and died in 1993), they are in the area where Gertrude appears to be living with her parents in 1939 (listed under Peck).
