My great aunt Elizabeth Laura Williams (1857 - 1935) emigrated to Colorado in 1879 and was living with her brother in Gilpin County in 1880. In 1883 she became a naturalised American, but by 1889 she was back in Wales and was married to Llewelyn Powell Davies on 23rd July 1889 in Dolgelley. On her marriage certificate she is named as Elizabeth Laura Richards, a widow and place of residence Dolgelley. The family moved back to Colorado by 1890. I suspect that she married a Mr Richards in Colorado after 1883 and before 1889 and that he died, prompting her to move back to Wales, but I can't find any relevant marriages. Can anyone help please?
I have plenty about her and the family from 1990 onwards.

Hi Bigpotts
Having not found any relevant record in the Colorado Marriage index, I think that the Elizabeth L Williams who married Richard Richards in Racine, Wisconsin in Sept 1885, is worth consideration.

Richard Richards, a much older man, passed away on the 28 Feb 1887 in Mount Pleasant, Racine.
His probate file dated 9th Mar 1887-1890, Case Number: 70-1289, is available on A*.
A statement in the petition papers towards the end of this file reads:-
"The said deceased left him surviving his widow Elizabeth Richards resident at present at Central City, Colorado and that she has since married and is now Elizabeth Davis."

Hi Avia,
Many thanks, what a find and I think it's my girl. The parents on Family Search match and her husband was from Merionethshire, her home county, which possibly explains how she married someone so far from Colorado.
