Title: Henry KING (1787-1854)

Henry was my 3rd great grandfather and he died on 28 Apr 1854 at St Andrew The Less, Cambridgeshire.  I am endeavouring to locate his grave site and, hopefully, find an inscription on a headstone.  I am wondering if someone has a publication of monumental inscriptions in the area and is prepared to have a look for my grandfather.

The Cambridgeshire Family History Society have published lists of monumental inscriptions for a lot of local graveyards. I don't have any for Cambridge but you could do a search for Henry on their website.

His Death Certificate shows:
Reg. District - Cambridge
Sub District - St Andrew the Less
Died at -  154 East Road, St Andrew the Less
Informant lived at - Broad Street, Cambridge
Henry was the registered publican of the Waggon & Horses, 170 East Road, St Andrew the Less from 1830 until his death in 1854.
Can't tell you much more (other than the fact that the booze finally got him!).

I had wondered whether he had been living in one of the villages that I had fiche for before I returned the fiche reader to the cupboard  ;D   I had seen that one at 154 East road in 1851 but had discounted him as age was given as 41.

It is possible he is in Mill road Cemetery but probably no headstone.

Church description   ST ANDREW THE LESS

I would imagine this information came from the burial register for St Andrew the Less which would mean the service took place in the church but not necessarily the burial.  My gt gt grandfather who had the same occupation as yours also appears in the burial register for 1884 St Andrew the Less.  I have not looked for his grave, I suppose I ought to  ;D

The Mill road site says the church graveyards were full by 1848 and Mill road cemetery was then used. It is likely that there is no gravestone.
