How does one go about finding out all the children registered to a couple in Western Australia? I am looking for children of Oswald Thomas Preston Mills and Ada Annie Smith (from 1913-1932?). Some may be registered in Swan and at least one in Perth. The records I am seeing don't give parents names to be able to check. At the moment I think I can only guess the most likely and then apply for copies of birth certificates.

The extra identifying details are not given in the indexes as they may still be living. You won't be allowed to purchase a birth certificate less than 100 years old.

Hi ,
Have you looked at WW2 Australian soldiers records ?
There are 3 records showing on the index with father Oswald Mills.
Also a WW2 record for Oswald Thomas Preston Mills Service Number - W17138 , born 1893 , Next of Kin - Ada Mills.

Thank you for your help. Did find the boys who had military records (what a great source of information) but tracking the girls is a bit more difficult.

I think the easiest way would be to obtain the death notices for Oswald and Ada.

But I believe they charge for the service now. (Pity you don't live in W.A and have free access or know anyone who can do lookups for you?) It would still be cheaper than buying W.A. certs which are quite expensive.

Dear Ros and Cupoflife and other family researchers. I am so appreciative of the information I have received. I would really love to learn enough to eventually help other people just as I am receiving help. The resources available are unbelievable compared to 20+ years ago when my husbands mother was researching her family history.
What a difficult period they lived in with all the men going off to war and their wives left behind.
Oswald Mills went to war and was injured in France (gunshot wound to his knee). I have found out that later in life he was in a wheelchair with both legs being amputated.
