A timescale would be helpful please?

The above marriage was 1929 and is on freebmd so a copy of the marriage cert would give ages and respective fathers names

Have you looked on the 1911 census for them or checked for births on freebmd?

Freebmd shows 5 children born 1929-1938 - have you checked to see if any are still alive?

Thanks for replying CarolW    You are right That is the family  Born William Corps he took his mother's husband's name upon marriage  He did marry Bridget Peel after moving to Cumberland and I have details of his children  It is the link between him in Cumberland and the records on Scotland's People that I am trying to locate  There are births to a Corps-Bell mother so maybe an unmarried mother  there are records relating to a Noeline/Noelene Corps-Bell  (various spellings of Noeline) and an Australian death record relating to her  Only a name for a Corps-Bell child that links to to her will confirm identity  I was in contact with a relative of earlier Corps-Bell but William rarely showed up at family gatherings and contact was minimal almost to the point of non-existence If I could establish which Corps-Bell went to Scotland then the link would be complete.  Here's hoping

What records on SP?

Corps Bell seems to relate only to William born 1906 as none of his children have Corps as a middle name.  It is also clear it is not an everyday surname being made up of his mothers maiden name and her married name

Why do you think there is any connection?  Have you researched his mother to see if there is any connection to Scotland or the people you mention

Corps wasn't a middle name as Carole supposes it is now the family name  I have since found the 'missing link' as I called it.   And yes I had researched his mother

William born 1906 was born as Corps but married as Bell and died as Bell. He used Corps as a middle name - not as his main surname.   His children's births were registered as Bell - not Corps.

Whilst Corps was certainly his mothers maiden name - from the very limited information provided by you in your post there is nothing to suggest that William's children changed their surname to Corps in later life

Sarah Ellen Corps was born in Hunslet 1879 so no obvious connection to Scotland unless her parents or siblings were the connection.  Again - no info given by you to indicate if this was the case.

From your first reply - it is clear that the info I posted about William's birth and his mothers marriage etc  was already known to you but again - it was not included in your post.
