Title: Looking for birth records of Clara Wells, mother Sarah

I believe that Clara was born in Bushey, Hertfordshire

Any clues as to a birthyear?

Have you looked on freebmd?    www.freebmd.org.uk

Bushey came under Watford RD and there is an 1863 birth there

Clara Wells born 7th April 1863 baptism 24th May 1863 Bushey Mother Sarah, Singlewoman abode Sparrow Herno?

It seems fairly straaightforward that Clara was the illegitimate daughter of Sarah Wells.What I can't see is who Sarah's father was the husband of Mary,Sarah's mother?He's described as an Ag Labourer in 1851 but doesn't appear with Mary?

Hi the baptism of Sarah was:-

Sarah Wells born 8th June 1845 baptism 29th June 1845 Bushey Father William occ Labourer Mother Mary abode Bushey Heath.

ROBERT Wells 1843 Watford Birth Reg has Mothers mn as CLAXTON
So does Sarah's in 1845. And William 1849.

Cant find a Marriage though for William Wells/Mary Claxton

1841 Census has a Mary Wells age 25 (1816) F/S in Bushey.

Also noticed Robert Charles Wells 1871 has no Mothers mn , so is illeg also I would think.
(although he names a Father on his M/C.)
