I am interested to hear from anyone who may be researching the Rose Family. Arthur Rose was my great-grandfather. I believe he was a Sugar Refiner. His wife was Louisa Clifford Rose (nee Barwick). Their son (my grandfather) Mark Samuel Rose was born in London on 19 December 1874. The address given on his birth certificate was 13 Somerford Street, Bethnal Green. Mark Samuel Rose emigrated to Australia with his wife Mary Lily Ann Rose (nee Williams) and my father William Edward Rose b. London on 1901. The family disembarked at Townsville, Queensland, Australia on 15 July 1903.
With thanks
Marian

Marian, I can find no evidence of Arthur being a sugar refiner. His early occupations are listed above and the later censuses show him as a bricklayer's labourer and a labourer for the Borough Council.
Might I suggest that the family story may have been jumbled up ... his father-in-law is shown as a confectioner on the 1871 marriage cert.

Amazing you must be closely related to me. I am also related to Frank Everall Russell and "Molly" Russell. Someone in my family history is called Daniel Rose. I have a picture of someone who may be Daniel Rose or Octavius Russell. Frank Everall Russell is my great Grandfather. I have a definite picture of him, and a definite picture of Molly. Members of the Russell family are somehow connected with the Rose family but I'm not exactly clear on the connection except I know it goes through someone called Daniel Rose. I have the pictures of Frank and Molly here at home. This unknown photo of either Daniel Rose or Octavius Russell is also somewhere at home but I don't know where.
