The marriage entry on the Derbyshire marriage index states the name Parry and was at St Peters, Derby.

BUT the marriage entry for Sarah in 1841 states Perry.  Father given as William who was a farmer and she was a minor

Do you know when and where he died and his age at death.  It would help narrowing it down

there is Sarah Perry baptised 17 May 1820 Mansfield Parents William & ALICE - do you think you have the wrong parents in William Parry & Lucy Robinson

There is a marriage 7 April 1820 Mansfield of William Perry and Alice Evans

It looks like Sarah was their first child - not too long after their marriage
I think some of the other children were Ann 1821
Elizabeth 1824 died 21 Sept 1825
John 1828
Helena 1831
all b mansfield

But I will have to check further

Parents William & Alice

1851 Harriett Perry age 13 b Allestree Derby is still in Mansfield Union Workhouse
HO107 2124 72

no sign of Alice

there is a death reg FreeBMD
Alice Perry Jun qtr 1845 Mansfield  (no age given at that time )

so all this depends on whether you are seeking Perry or Parry

hi, Everyone, I have no details of death, just the information that my cousin sent me.
The name is Perry. he also sent me a photo of my greatgrandfather born1870, in uniform mycousin
said that he served in REME in WW1 as a miner? I know its not part of the Perry saga . just adds to my confusion.
Best Wishes Clive

who was your great grandfather??

maybe we could check backwards from him??

The marriage your cousin gave was for William Parry -not Perry

If Sarah was b Mansfield Notts then a more likely match is William Perry who married Alice ??

I may have missed something here, but GEORGE THROOP definitely married SARAH PERRY at Old Brampton 17.01.1841...normally you could assume that this is the Bride's Parish..but not so in this case, she was not Baptised Old brampton.........entry states "From New Brampton"......
Bramptton St George (New Brampton) has CHARLES THROOPE baptised 25.11.1851 son of George (a Pot Turner) and Sarah..living at Brampton Moor...

I don't know where you lot are looking.and struggling!!..1861 census George Troop..married to Sarah...five children..all born Brampton
Wife Sarah born MANSFIELD Notts 1820........

SARAH PERRY Baptised Mansfield Notts 17.05.1820...........daughter of WILLIAM PERRY and Alice..................
WILLIAM PERRY married ALICE EVANS at Mansfield 07.04.1820..............obviously in haste !!!
I suggest that  William Perry might have been born in Nottingham 1785.....................

This is only a suggestion..WILLIAM PERRY baptised St mary Bulwell nottingham 23.02.1785 son of George and Elizabeth.......
by the way..Sarah was one of at least three children of William an Alice........

I posted information about Sarah and her parents being William & Alice and other information in relpies 7, 8 & 9

the reason we are (as you put it "struggling" ) is because  clivealbert has not so far given an indication that his cousin's information may not be the correct couple - so I have attempted to find William Perry(Parry?) who married Lucy Robinson in later years so maybe clivealbert could rule him out -but have not had any joy yet.
I also think Sarah born to William Perry and Alice (evans?) was one of at least 6 children -and William was possibly deceased before 1841 -Alice and some of the children in Mansfield Workhouse - and Alice is missing in 1851 -youngest daughter still in the workhouse

I am awaiting clivealbert giving details of his greatgrandfather b 1870 -so we can work backwards

Carol

on A*****y it is transcribed as William Parry - I think that's where the confusion is - was this marriage William Parry or William Perry ???

I personally think William Perry and Alice Evans married 1820 are the parents of Sarah -married shortly before her birth but until we hear from clivealbert we are at a bit of a standstill.

hi Derbysderek - your comment didn't upset at all - I was more trying to explain the frustration of not being able to find more information until we receive answers from clivealbert.
I have tried to find William Parry/Perry and Lucy Robinson in later census but have had no joy.
Also am trying to pinpoint a death for William then maybe we could find his birth but until we know which William we are following..........
