Hi spud

So we don't duplicate what you already know, what sort of information are you looking for?

For example, have you got their marriage cert which should name their fathers?

There are several births for John G Green in Sunderland from 1890 to 1895, so the marriage certificate for his Father's name would help.

When (and where) did your grandfather die?

You can buy copies of certificates from GRO, cost £9.25 and postage is included.

To try to explain part of the problem, there are these two deaths, are either his, or do you not know at all?

John G Green  born about 1895
Died June quarter 1931 - Sunderland,

John G Green born about 1895
Died September quarter 1946 - Sunderland,

(Was he still alive during WWII?)

Do you know the names of all his children, and when and where they were born?
When did Annie die?

Thank-you

Do you know if he served during WW1 - if he did then his birth date would be really helpful.

Theres only one John G Green born in Sunderland who stands out as the potential for the 1931 death

John George Green born Dec 1894 mothers maiden name Turns

However thats assuming he was born in Sunderland and had the initial G from birth

However if you get John and Annie's marriage certificate you can get his fathers name and that will be your first place to start

I know you asked about John but your title says nana and granda - there appears to be a mention of your nan in her fathers WW1 service papers on ancestry, she was born 9 Sept 1901 (her dad being Edward)

Not sure if thats any help or if it's new to you

Hi,

Durham Records online has some info about John GREEN's burial in 1931, but it is a pay site so I can only see the following,

Cemetery Registers: Sunderland
Death:  1931
Name:  John George GREEN
DOB:  abt. 1895
Abode:  7 Ogle Terrace

http://www.durhamrecordsonline.com/SearchResults.php

By using Google I can see that there was an Ogle Terrace in Southwick-on-Wear which was in Sunderland registration district. Does this address show on any of his children's birth certificate for instance?

Regards,
Daisy

Potential on the 1901 census

George Green, in Brigham St Southwick (number 3) - listed as Grandson - in the same house as George TURNS (aged 44 - single) and Margaret TURNS (aged 67)

From the age and the 1871 census George W Turns would be this Margaret's son (and John George's uncle)

There is another potential sibling - Mary Isabella Green, mmn Turns in 1890 in Sunderland (?dies 1894)

Possible parents
Andrew GREEN marries Margaret TONES in 1887

They are on the 1901 census also in Brigham St, Southwick (number 12) - but with a 4 year old daughter Mary

May be his was staying with his gran that night

Have you seen this from the same site as John's info. ?

Cemetery Registers:  Sunderland
Death:  1908
Name:  Margaret GREEN
DOB:  abt. 1865
Abode:  12 Brougham Street

Cemetery Registers:  Sunderland
Death:  1920
Name:  Andrew GREEN
DOB:  abt. 1866
Abode:  7 Ogle Terrace

Looking at the image of the 1901 census I think the GREEN family are living at 12 Brougham Street and the TURNS family are at number 3 Brougham street. By 1911 the TURNS family are at number 12.  Then Andrew has the same abode as John's. :)

That makes the family found by iolaus look right  :)
