Title: Nottingham Archdeaconry wills - browse on FamilySearch
Post by: vrvt on Saturday 25 February 17 22:05 GMT (UK)
By chance I discovered today that many of the Archdeaconry of Nottingham will films at FamilySearch have been recently digitised. It includes the deaneries of Retford, Newark, Nottingham and Bingham. You can browse through the wills from the comfort of your home. See https://familysearch.org/search/catalog/556524 and click on any of the little camera symbols.

You have to browse through the films, making it a bit of a pain to find an individual one - but well worth the effort. They are organised by year and date they were proved. It's easiest to search NAWCAT (http://nawcat.nottinghamshire.gov.uk) first to see if there's a will of interest, then check to see if the relevant Deanery and year has been digitised yet. Wills in this collection will have the reference PR/NW. Hopefully the films that haven't been digitised will be done soon.
