Hi, welcome to Rootschat

Also in same plot with David and Mary plot K1 545

Burial 66567 Edmunds Edith Maud age 65 buried 1975. This daughter of couple is with them on last available census, age 1

If you contact Aberdare library via email with burial details, they will send you internment records, address at death etc is on the record. Also from library, (you need an address) electol rolls can hold info, if over 21. Family are at Danygraig in 1939. Ask for previous and post years. They do not have war years.

Think this is a likely 1891, David's Marriage cert would confirm.  There is a Thomas Edmunds who is a boarder with family in 1901 that fits, looks likely brother.

http://www.GenesReunited.co.uk/boards/board/ancestors/thread/439942 Another family member researching.

Ellen born 1901 is still a dau in 1911. The Mary Ellen Nicholls does have a mothers maiden name of Morgan, but she is niece to Mary.

Below is from the GRO index, you have to register but free to search. https://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/certificates/indexes_search.asp

Name:   Mother's Maiden Surname:
NICHOLLS, MARY  ELLEN    MORGAN
GRO Reference: 1897  S Quarter PONTYPRIDD  Volume 11A  Page 515

There is a death of Morfydd, which would tie with a birth date of 1865, so sister to Mary.

NICHOLLS, MORFYDD    age 32
GRO Reference: 1897  D Quarter in PONTYPRIDD  Volume 11A  Page 261

Here is the marriage

Marriages Mar Qtr 1887
Morgan    Morfudd   Merthyr T.    11a   586
Nicholls    William        Merthyr T.    11a   586

Can be found together in 1891, no children.

As requested

This looks like 1851 for William Edmunds with parents https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:SG86-PZS William senior occ is gentlemans groom.

Having trouble locating first marriage and first 2 children on census, in 1871, think I found the son William D born 1869 with his brother David in 1871.

Baptism William https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:VFH6-P76

Possible 1871 for Eleanor Williams, father Hugh from marriage, occ collier

1871 Williams family https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:V5BF-K8H

Not sure which way you want your family research to go, unless you say which area you would possibly want to know more  :-\

1871 Glantaff Road, Merthyr Tydfil, Glamorganshire
William   Edmonds   Head 31, widower,  police constable, St Athans, Glamorgan
Catherine   Edmonds   Sister   25   St Athans Glamorgan
Mary J (Jane) Edmonds 4 Daughter, Aberdare

As said William Daniel is with his brother David. First wife died between birth of William D and 1871, marriage and death of first wife falls between census.

Looking at the birth index on GRO suggests Mmn as Thomas. 3 possibles marriages on FreeBMD.

The first 2 children on 1881 census were not Eleanors, but by his first marriage. He remarried your ancestor 1872. The previous children are half siblings.

I think you should own your own family history, not expect it given on a plate. You have done no research yourself, have missed out on the buzz of finding, even thou I have given you free links to search.  Plz don't be another freeloader, you have to be interested to do a bit yourself! Enough said.

Information available is census, BMD and possible newspaper reports. Photographs if any are usually passed down within family members. Connecting with others researching same family can help locate any if there.  Link for local newspapers here.

You could try and locate his police records held at glam archives
