Hi
when we started researching my husbands Warner tree in Birmingham we came across the surname Rainbow on parish records and commented on what a lovely name it was and whether the family were of a bright and sunny disposition.
Later on we took photos of the area and houses the family lived in and looked up plans - only to find that Walter Rainbow was the builder of the house my husbands grandfather lived in when he married !!
Happy hunting

Hi Rainbow.

Here is a stray for your collection. I found this headstone in St Mary's Church, Lutterworth, Leics.
In loving memeory of Frederick Rainbow who died April 21st 1884 aged 73 years, also Sarah, wife of the above who died November 2nd 1893 aged 76 years, and of Edwin Thomas, second son of the above who died December 9th 1906 aged 58 years. - He hath done all things well Mark 7:37 -.
I hope it finds an owner. Cheers Sue

Sorry to be AWOL from this thread, got busy...you know how it is....
Sorry Ryan, I don't have any from Stoke-on-Trent (as far as I know)
Brummygirl, thank you. I don't think any of them are mine...but you never know ;-)
billy56 - these Rainbows get everywhere don't they!
Susan - bingo! These are definitely my lot - I think all the Lutterworth Rainbows were originally from one family. Thank you VERY much, that was info I didn't have.
Ah yes, since I started this thread I have discovered that although I have several generations of Rainbows in Coventry they all originated from William Rainbow who married Phoebe Taylor in Showell, Leicestershire in 1736. I don't believe that William was from the area so if anyone has 'lost' a William Rainbow who was of marrying age in1736 maybe we could compare notes.
I've also found out that the Norton Lindsey connection to the Sanders was a complete red herring. My Sanders were jewellers from Birmingham.

Thanks :)
Ryan.

Hooray Rainbow,
Glad I transcribed the headstone, while wandering around the churchyard in the rain, on the off chance that I might be able to find a connection.
Too easy. ;D
Cheers Sue

Bless you Sue, for getting wet :-)

Hi Paula
John Rainbow (b1799 at Burton Dassett - his wife Bathsheba b<1802>at Gaydon) ran the Dolphin Inn in Cross Cheaping, Coventry (Pigot's Directory 1835).
Their children were
Elisabeth b <1829>
Sarah b <1831>
Cyrenus b <1836>
Emma b <1838>
Frederick John Griffin Rainbow b 16 July 1841
Frederick is my husbands ggx2 and I have births, marriages and deaths for most of his direct descendants.
