John Begbie is mentioned in Robert Burn's poem The Ordination.

Begbie was an innkeeper and vintner married to Anne Lauder with children born in Riccarton and Kilmarnock parishes - entries seen. Earliest child born 1778.

I cannot find his marriage to Anne - help please!!

In the Glasgow Herald deaths Nov 1831. "at King St, Kilmarnock, Mrs Begbie aged 76". I think this could be Anne's death so probably born 1755 or so. Married around 1770 - 1776

Their children - Robert married Charlotte Jackson, John ?, James married ?, Margaret m JH Bruce, Anne married William Webster, Janet married John White, Elizabeth marr Coll MCdougall and Alex Hood.

Some of these may have died post 1855. Might be worth looking there?
