Title: John Reeve of Peasmarsh
Post by: Decker21 on Sunday 05 February 17 12:46 GMT (UK)
I am looking for a John Reeve christening. In 1838 he married Martha Banister at Ebony Chapel, Kent both residents of Ebony. Both fathers are just entered as deceased with no names or professions. In 1841 he is living at Main Street, Peasmarsh with wife Martha and 2 children. John died in Rye (no address given) in 1847 age 38 and his profession recorded as 'farmer'.  In 2002 a baptism came up on Family Search for John Reeves christened on 5 Jul 1810 at Peasmarsh, parents Matthew and Sarah, but this no longer appears. The poll books for 1820 show a Matthew Reeve of Hastings owning land at Peasmarsh. Other than that I have found nothing online to help. Would you be able to confirm whether this christening exists and where I can find other records online to help me.
Regards

Thanks for that. At least I know it wasn't an error and could be who I am looking for.
Regards.

Mathew Reeve married Sarah Adams ( botp)

John's eldest son was named John Adams Reeve so I think Matthew marrying Sarah Adams at Udimore are John's parents. Thank you very much for all that information. Do you think that it would help my research if I joined the Sussex FHS? I need to do my research online and it says that members can look at records that way.

It really depends on how much research you think you will need to do in Sussex. The coverage is extensive and membership costs £15 which includes the Sussex Family Historian which is published quarterly. ( There are no marriages online but they are available to buy on CD ). You could always try it for a year and see what you think .
