Hi
I have a photo of my husband's uncle in Egypt in WWII. (Geoffrey Francis Hall born 12 Dec 1924) Does anyone have any idea of what service he was in? It was UK and I suspect army, but am having trouble finding records. In one photo there are not many uniforms at all, in the wedding one it looks like he is in uniform? Larger photos can be emailed if required.
Any help gratefully received.
Cheers Barbara

Records for WW2 will still be with the MOD ;)

Thanks Rosie - I am waiting for a copy of his death certificate so I can go down that track, but was also hoping for an indication of service type - ie army or air force

Hi, I would say he is almost certainly wearing a R.A.F uniform in the wedding photograph, he also looks to have medal ribbons on his uniform.

Thanks Frank - gives me a place to start. His brother (my father in law) was also RAF but never talked about his time in Egypt.

There is a photograph on the link which shows RAF personnel in Egypt in 1943, note the same type of shirts and side caps :)

I would go with RAF ground crew.

I'm just wondering if the chap sat on the ground bottom left has a RAF cap badge on his shirt pocket flap :-\ what do you think?
Frank.

Have had a good look at the photo and there isn't a badge on his shirt - it's the way the button pulls the fabric. But RAF at least gives me a place to start :)
