Ellen was born to John Lynch and Ellen Lenane (Leonard) in Adelaide, South Australia in 1892. In 1913 she had a child and soon after we can find not trace of her. The said child's WWII record's have her as next of kin but the person concerned had no proof of her still being alive. It has been difficult to trace Ellen after giving up her child, can anyone help?

Are you saying that Ellen's child was adopted/fostered and that when that person enlisted for WWII that they nominated Ellen as nok but did not have a then current address for her on their paperwork? The National archives of Australia should have the full service file to confirm the WWII address for nok. If Ellen's child is still alive they can apply for the file to be digitised, and if they are deceased you can apply, confirming they are no longer living.
If they are no longer living, perhaps you might consider sharing their name?
There's a number of regulars on RChat who know their way around South Australia records. I am NSW centric so I cannot help much further. If you want to catch their eyes, perhaps you could ask a moderator to move the thread across to the Australia board.

William Francis Joseph Lynch is Ellen's son. I have his WWII war service records and he has her as next of kin. He lists Hughes Street Mile End, the place which is on his birth certificate as Ellen's address in 1939. We know that she moved back to her parents home about the time that William was fostered which was January or February 1914. Ellen gave William up to foster care through the Sister's of St Joseph and he was sent to a farm care placement near Strathalbyn which is south of Adelaide. All trace of her ceases a few years later. Descendants of the Lynch/Lenane family only remember that she went to live somewhere else for a while, come back and then a few years later believed she moved interstate.

In 1939 and 1941 Peter John LYNCH lived at 9 Newman Street. A Blacksmith
[Another brother Owen Laurence lived with him.]
He will be the Peter referred to in the death notice for Ellen GALL
As John Joseph was still living at the time of Ellen GALL’s death, he maybe Jack in the death notice for Ellen GALL.

May I just say that CupofLife's and Sue's posts are making good sense. I have many an Ellen/Helen (as per their birth certs) in my NSW family tree and they were often referred to as Nell and/or as Nellie, including on the birth certs for their children :)
I have not found any likely WWII service records with Ellen Lynch as nok and the enlistee as born 1913 in South Australia.

Thank you everyone for the help you have given me. Some of the information I already had but the websites you have given me filled in some gaps. I am still searching for Ellen but am looking down the Gall pathway now. :)
