I wonder if anyone can tell me the meaning of BBF when written on my ancestor's war service records. It was on the document which records where he was posted. BBF was for a four month period at the end of 1918.
Many thanks.

Is it definitely BBF and not BEF (British Expeditionary Force)?

Yes that was my first reaction - it must be BEF. But it does look like BBF and also I thought the BEF landed at the start of the war, whereas this chap has these initials next to the period at the end of his time in army from 27th August to 28th December 1918.

It was still called BEF throughout so a posting to France/Flanders for example appears on the record as BEF - often with the country written in also. His unit will tell you where it was.
