I am searching for a Wilhelm Frederick Lingstrom (or Frederick Wilhelm Lingstrom) (born circa 1870) Stockholm, who married Emily Couch on 2/1/1892 Dubbo, NSW. Australia. Wilhelm may have jumped ship in Australia as I cannot find any record of his entry into Australia. His marriage certificate spells his name as LANGSTRUM (no father or mother's names for either of them; no ages; ) Children of Wilhelm & Emily - Carl b.1893 & Alfred R C Lingstrom b. 1897 Dubo. Could not find arrival for Wilhelm Frederick Lingstrom into Australia and the story goes that he then left Australia sometime around 1907. Or this could be a red herring and he stayed in Australia. Could be Wilhelm Frederick or Frederick Wilhelm and Lingstrom or Langstrum. Thank you kindly

Did the Deceased Estate file contain any information about her husband?

Where in Dubbo were they married? The parish records may have more information that NSW BDM.

Hi Cando,
Wilhelm & Emily were married at the Wesley Parsonage Dubbo. Does anyone have access to these records? Would be fabulous to see if there is more info to be had. Thank you kindly.

Not unusual to find elusive blanks on NSW marriage certs for that era, particularly for rural NSW.
Here's a thread that should give you details about how to overcome those blanks.

http://trove.nla.gov.au/newspaper/article/85148717 Daily News 14 May 1929. Klaus Wilhelm LINGSTROM - 40 years in Australia.
Have you considered naturalisation applications?

Re concept of 'jump ship' .... it is also worth considering that he came as a passenger rather than as ship's crew, and perhaps came 'steerage' .... not all passenger lists detail the names of those who came steerage. The ships' manifests were hand-written, and likely not transcribed for decades and decades. Even when surname is recorded, it may be as Mr Lingstrom (or spelling variations).
Try : http://marinersandships.com.au/ and remember it is an ongoing project, so do consider revisiting the website on a regular basis.

Hi Georgie,
I am also descended from Emily Lingstrom (nee Couch), but not through her husband, Wilhelm Frederick Lingstrom.
She had a daughter, my great-grandmother, Ivy Kathleen Couch, before she married and I discovered that Emily sued the father, John Campbell for maintenance.
Emily was known as Emily Lynn (or Lynne), nee Couch, in newspaper articles, even though the full name was Lingstrom. It looks like they anglicised the surname. You might have some luck looking for Fred Lynn or Lynne?
Also, I discovered that Emily's parents' names are John and Jane, but I haven't got any further yet.
Here's an article about Emily's death, as an example. You can see that it has her sons Alfred and Carl mentioned, as well as her first daughter Ivy Kathleen Miller, who was married to AH Miller (the secretary and organiser of the Cooee march from Gilgandra to Sydney.)
