I've tried search engines, but can't come up with anything. Trying to find the Christian names of the Doherty family resident in 1929/30 at 32 Glengarrife Parade, off the North Circular Road in Dublin. We know they're family, but can't establish the actual relationship. (Could be the key to solving my GGF's maternal line). Unfortunately, my Uncle's address book only has the Christian name of the daughter, Eilish, who was about 17 in 1929 and 'Eilish' was either her middle name, or her birth was registered under an Anglicised version of it- of which there may be several.

Unfortunately they were taken off line a while ago, data protection over kill

We live in hope of their return.

Thanks, I was afraid that was the case. Who knows, someone may read this and recognise the family- a slim chance, but worth taking.

If the family were at that address for a while there may be other ways to find them.
Do you know if Eilish got married?

Sadly, no. Everyone of the family who may have known are long gone. They weren't there in 1911 and as we don't know Eilish's proper name, can't find out by other means.

Eilish is usually Elizabeth.

Eilish is usually Elizabeth.
Thanks- that narrows it down. Wasn't sure if it was that, or Eileen or Eliza or even Isabel.

Number 32 Glengariffe Parade isn't even listed in the Electoral roll for 1915, it goes from 31 to 33. So either empty or no one qualified to vote.
Oh hang on 1914 has two sides to the street, 32 is on that, they aren't there though so doesn't look like Eilish was born at that address.

Thanks. I'll probably take a gamble and order the marriage certificate for the Elizabeth who married in North Dublin in 1931.

That should be free online

That's great- thanks. Hadn't realised that they went beyond 1900 online. Sadly, that one has an address in Pilsboro Rd, so doesn't confirm, but I can look at other options now.

The Elizabeth in 1939, no go either, I'm just looking at all the females.

Just gone through all females up to 1942 and no go. Either, they moved, or she didn't get married. Thanks for your time- it's appreciated.

Did she have a brother?

We really have no idea. The only references we have are from my Uncle's 1929 diary. We know from this that the Dohertys were family and when my Grandfather, Uncle and Father visited Delgany for an extended holiday in 1929, that Eilish came to see them several times. (The address was in the back of his 1930 diary)

No joy with the men either.

Thanks. Me neither and I've been right through from 1925 to 1940. Quite probably the address was a short-term rental. Might even have left the country.

If she was about 17 years old in 1929 then her birth should be online- have you tried looking at all the female Dohertys born in Dublin or Delgany in case you recognise any names of parents?

Have looked at all Elizabeths nationwide within the age range, but have no way of knowing if one is ours or not, as none of the mother's maiden names ring any bells for known surnames in the family tree. The only way I can confirm I've the right family is with an address match, but that's proved impossible.
I suspect that the family relationship is probably connected to my great-grandfather's mother's line, whose surname we don't know- hence the attempt to try to trace Eilish's line backwards. Unfortunately, none of the records for my great-grandfather Shannon's birth c.1854 (probably Dublin, but might be Kildare); his father's birth in 1822 (in Kildare and probably Athy) and subsequent marriage are available.

Why not try using the 'more search options function' and just put in Doherty and the various possible mother's maiden names, don't get too caught up in the Elizabeth name, it could be her second name.
