Hi!
I'm searching for a: Sarah Ann Eliza Staff on the 1891 Census, but I cannot find her anywhere. I can find her prior to that on the 1881 Census living with her parents, Alfred and Priscilla. I can also find her later on in Chatham Workhouse, 1896, where she gives birth to her illegitimate son. Plus, later still where she gets married to a Joseph Garrard, has other children etc. There is just this gap in her life and I'm trying to find answers.
She was born in Collier Row, Romford on 6th July, 1874. Her father died (an agricultural labourer) in 1888 and from then on I imagine the family suffered hard times. She had two children, Minnie and Walter before she was married.
Can anyone help fill in the gaps? I'm trying to find her on the 1891 Census (to attempt to find something about her circumstances) with no success.
Thanks :D

Is that her mother Priscilla Ann Staff 45 in the workhouse in 1891 Romford? I wonder if Sarah was there too :-\

There's a Sarah Haff 18 born Romford who is a general domestic servant with the Burrows family in West Ham.
Haff could be taken for Staff perhaps. This is the family.

Yes, Millipede I also found a record of Priscilla in the workhouse (using Ancestry), but couldn't find Sarah with her. I presumed she was elsewhere. I am new to research, so I'm a bit unsure.
Are there more records at the ERO? I haven't been yet.

Thanks, that is possible. She did enter Chatham Workhouse with 'single servant' on her admission record.

Millipede, the more I look into the Sarah Haff possibility, the more I think this could be her. Like I said, I am knew to researching. Thank you so much for your help.
