Title: Joseph Williams
Post by: Helina on Saturday 14 January 17 12:11 GMT (UK)
What a disappointment,  marriage certificate arrived to day for Joseph Williams and Elizabeth Skinner in 1838,  the groom's father column has no name only deceased.  Now according to my records Joseph's father James Williams died in 1856.  Although I have James's death certificate there are quite a few James Williams born in Olveston around 1760-1790, also on several ancestry family trees James dies in 1816.   Where do I go from here?

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi,

If you have James'death certificate; doesn't it give his age at death in 1856?  In which case, you can work out his rough birthdate, which should help narrow things down....

Gene, He was 84 when he died, hence born 1772 and I have been working on those dates.  But I find it very off-putting when one sees trees on ancestry with maybe the same birth year I have but they have him down as died in 1816 married to the same wife as I have.  Again there seems alot of James born in Olveston around 1772 5 years either side.

Thanks for your reply
