Good day,
I please need help with tracing my Norwegian ancestry:
Charles John PETERSEN (as on his Death Notice) but could be Carl/Karl Johan PEDERSEN
Born: 3 August 1868, Norway
Died: 29 August 1951, South Africa
Charles married Margarita/Margaret Marie/Maria JANSEN VAN RENSBURG
On his Death Notice his dad is Paulus Arthur PETERSEN from Oslo, Norway and mother Isabel from Oslo Norway.
Not 100% sure about the mom even if its on the Death Notices as Margarita's mom was Isabel. Family member has the name Pegiota as the name for Charles mom. He also has it that they are from Bragenes, Norway.
I also don't have any information of when Charles left for South Africa or on what ship.
He married his wife, Margarita in 1902, Paul Pietersburg, Durban and had his first son in 1903 also in Durban.
Thank you so much

Hi SZE2016
Just to help out other members here is a link to your other thread: http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php?topic=735640.0
I have taken another look for you without success unfortunately. Do you know for sure if Paulus was from Norway or Natal?

Hi Ian,
Paulus Arthur Petersen the son of Charles John Petersen was born in Natal, but Charles/Carl/Karl John/Johan Petersen was born in Norway.

Hi
I really have tried to find these people in Norway to no avail unfortunately.
There is a record on Ancestry of a Mr. C.J. Pettersen aged 27 sailing from Southampton to Cape on the ship Spartan on 2 May 1896. He is recorded as "foreign" and is recorded as a carpenter. This is all I could find that could be him from any passenger list.

According to Charles Johan's death certifiate they were married in Paulpietersburg in 1902. If you could get his marriage record then it may have more info.

Hi,
I assume parish records for Bragernes, Buskerud have been browsed?
There is a Carl Andreas, b july 3, 1868 to parents Christensen Pedersen and Petra Knudsdatter...
A candidate?
