Hello can anyone help me find Bridget's birth? I have found 3 different variations of her surname.
She was born appx 1886 in England according to the 1911 Irish census.
She married John Keaney in Chester 1903 & she died in 1923 in Co Mayo.
children Peter 1904, Mary 1905 born in Chester, Martin, John, Kate & Hugh born in Co Mayo.
I think this is an English find rather than an Irish if that makes sense?
Thanks

Hello,
Do you have her father's name from the marriage certificate or any other information from that?
1911 shows Kate and Hugh as siblings to John. Did Bridget and John have children of the same names post 1911. I know it doesn't help but just wanted to clarify this.

I don't have a copy of the marriage certificate, Children, Kathleen (Katie) 1916 & Bridget in 1921.

I CAN OFFER A POSSIBLE IN THE 1901 CENSUS- Father is Martin,,,has a sister Annie,,, But you really need the actual marriage certificate to check the fathers occupation.
1901 census

Maira Cavney Wife Married Female 36 1865 Hawker Fish Liverpool, Lancashire, England

Annie Cavney Daughter Single Female 15 1886 Hawker Fish Liverpool, Lancashire, England

Patrick Cavney Son - Male 10 1891 - Liverpool, Lancashire, England

That looks very interesting.
A published online tree links Annie Caveney Shakeshaft to this family

I have looked at other censuses and can't see a Bridget but Ellen Burke married a Martin Kavenay.

Here is the family gortonboy found in 1891. Ancestry transcribes them as Kavanagh which it does look like.

Annie Kavanagh (the Liverpool family) marries Edward Haughey in 1901. A published tree shows the marriage, 1911 and children. :-\

??? ::) ??? ::)
Oh my goodness this family is hardwork! Trying to work back on An--y from with the familysearch details is super tricky as they seem to be entered differently the 1901 has them as Carney, i'll let you know when i find them on 1891!
Trying to find a common mothers maiden name for the 5 children is hard to, especially as i still do not know what his surname actually is, ever record brings another variation! I'm guessing it would be safe to assume that Martin & Maria were married in the UK (probably Chester/Liverpool) around 1884.
All i can say with certainty is that Martin is her fathers name!
I have come across name variations all the time in my research but never so many for 1 name? Do you think he had a very broad accent & they were both possibly illiterate which was why the name is always different???

I'm lost now with the family you are looking for in 1891 ::)
I wonder too about the two women Bev posts about. There is a very large gap between Bridget's and Annie's marriages although the published tree does have Annie marrying in 1931 :-\ but no Bridget.

I'm lost now with the family you are looking for in 1891 ::) The family transcribed as Kavanaugh with Maud not Maria as the mum & Judy not Julia as the daughter. I have found it now though Maria was Minnia on A---Y!

Yes that is the family I posted at reply #11

Yes. I have just been going through the gro records to see if i can find a common denominator for the children & the mothers maiden name, but because the surname varies i can't pin one down! ???

What do you think? Could this line up, i honestly have serious doubts that ordering certificates will confirm anything as the name is never the same nor his job! :-\ But the burning question is just exactly what is his actual surname???
-
You need to establish, if this is your Bridget's family if you can. This is a difficult task as you are finding. ::)
It looks quite possible. I can't see a marriage yet for a Bridget K.... In Liverpool after 1901.
The Chester marriage would give you Martin's occupation which may help and perhaps a witness too might be useful.
It would be no use ordering Martin and Mary's certificate until you know it is the right family.
Those are my thoughts anyway. :)

I have a Kaveney connection in my Dolan line.
BRIGID KAVENEY (no dob) married PETER DOLAN (c1812 to 22/2/1879
They were married on 2/3/1840 at Kilkeevan, Castlerea
and had at least 6 children – Mary, Patrick, John, Michael, Patrick and Brigid
Obviously these children would go by the surname of Dolan and my BRIGID KAVENEY would be born sometime on or before 1820.
