My question is very similar to one by Jan Ann in July '14 which didn't get any replies. Does anyone know if the Bakewell (specifically Great Longstone and Youlgreave) area of Derbyshire are within the diocese of Lichfield, Staffordshire? If not, I presume the alternative is York?

Hope you can understand this ;) it's a merry chase.
Bakewell is one of those parishes that can’t make up its mind ;)
It used to be in the Diocese of Lichfield then when the Diocese of Southwell was formed in 1884 it became part of that diocese.
Then to cap it all it finally became part of the Diocese of Derby in 1927.
The Diocese of Lichfield and the Diocese of Derby are part of the Province of Canterbury.
The diocese's (Southwell) present territory was the Archdeaconry of Nottingham in the Diocese of York, prior to 1837 when it was moved to the Diocese of Lincoln in 1884 it was united with the Lincoln and the archdeaconry of Derby to form the new Diocese of Southwell.
The Diocese of Derby became independent in 1927. From 1935 Southwell and Nottingham returned to the Province of York

Thank you Guy, I'm most grateful for that utterly comprehensive answer. Fortunately, I'm interested in the mid-1700s so Lichfield is the place for me.

Goldie, that is very kind of you. I'm hoping to find documentation for a Thomas Gregory marriage to Hannah [U/K surname] somewhere around 1750ish and somewhere in the Bakewell, Great Longstone, Ashford in the Water, Youlgreave area of Derbyshire. No pressure then!!

No luck with a marriage allegation I'm afraid.

has a marriage of a Thomas Gregory of Birchover, and a Hannah (blank) of Winster 26.10.1752 at Bakewell. Both Winster and Birchover just a couple of miles from Youlgreave. This might be what you have already.
I think this must be the same marriage that familysearch has, and also findmypast. All say blank for Hannah's name, which suggests the entry in the actual register is missing her surname. What a shame! You'd need to check the original register, but Bakewell doesn't seem to be on-line anywhere, and I don't think the chances of you finding anythingelse are very slim.
Do you have a death date for Thomas? Perhaps he left a will and mention some family of his wife's (we live in hope!!), or if you have found a gravestone for him, she might be also on it.

Interesting gravestone on here. Thomas Gregory and wife Hannah. Dates that might fit.
Only a transcription, so dates not set in stone (ha! ha! ;D). I have seen ones wrongly transcribed in the past so always take them with a pinch of salt.

Goldie, thank you very much for the look up. Yes, I've been to Great Longstone and seen the headstone. I have no doubt that they are my 4x grandparents. On the stone are mentioned three infant children and Samuel aged 64. Which ties in with the Parish baptisms. Brothers William (my antecedent) and George moved to Earl Sterndale, but both of them and some of their children were buried at Great Longstone.
Working backwards from the ages and dates of death for Thomas and Hannah. I can identify a potential baptism for Thomas in December 1721 and the marriage (in Oct. 1752) you identified is potentially the right time (Thomas about 30yrs old, Hannah about 18yrs old - Which - on account of Hannah's age - is why I wondered if a Marriage Bond was involved). First born Richard arrives two years after the marriage date. BUT using the same dates several family trees on this site have reached somewhat different conclusions.
