Hello
Firstly I tell you why I am seeking current Garretts.
My friends great-uncle name removed (born 1937, Birmingham) was then adopted at five weeks old and it is only now that he feels he wants to trace his birth family and ancestors.
Is there anyone who would like to contact him or to send him info as to how you are related?
This is what I have so far:

Hi Katy
We have a 'no living people' policy here so your great-uncle's name should be removed and this really isn't a forum for reconnecting with missing family and friends.
Please have another look at our guidelines for posting

So moving onto his mother, what happened to her after he was adopted?

Answering my own question, Norah Kate Garrett, born 22 July 1912 died in Malvern in 1994.
A copy of her death certificate might be useful to see who the informant was.
Her probate entry also, can be found on this page, applying for a copy of her will might also be useful to find out who benefitted from her estate

The 1876 marriage is on FreeREG - 14 Nov 1876, at Montacute.
Fathers Charles Garrett, carter and William Hodges, gardener.
Groom just William, labourer, age 19. That fits with the following baptism.
East Lambrook 14 Nov 1858.
William son of Charles Garrett, labourer, and Cordelia
Charles Garrett married Cordelia Glover at Kingsbury Episcopi, 10 Jun 1845.
Fathers William Garratt and Henry Glover, labourers.

Hello DRH123 and Dawnsh,
Crikey, I am so sorry about posting details of a living person... I should have realised.
And thank you so much for the info that you have supplied.
I have 'Fathers Charles Garrett, carter' on the census - great confirmation and I have William's marriage to Elizabeth Hodges.
(And I have Charles and Cordelia on the census... and then his wife's name changes to Caroline.. some of the children's names are the same... no prob except they changed the places of birth from Kingsbury Episcopi to East Lambrook - tho only 1.7 miles apart. Only death I have for Cordelia is 1894!)
Once again, my apologies and thank you so much for all the help you have given me. Katy

This may be a "long-shot", but you have a William Garrett married to an Elizabeth Hodges.
I have a William Booty (1800-1879) married to an Amelia Hodges (1803-1848). Their daughter Elizabeth Booty married my G Grandfather William Garrett (1835- )
I'm wondering if there is any connection with these Families.
The Bootys were "Fish Porters" in London.
William Garrett was a "Couch Maker".
William's Parents were William James Garrett (1801 - ) born in Woolwich, Kent and baptised at St. Mary Magdalene Church in Woolwich and Mary Ann Percival.
William James' parents were John Garrett & Mary Lewis
Could there be some connection???
I have most of the Family Tree from 1797 to the present day, but I can not find any information beyond 1797.
I hope that you can connect. Please let me know. Thank you,
